Does anyone know if these are being sold in the USA? What common name are they going by if they are being sold?

Hi Mike, which species of Yunnanilus? If it's the Y. cruciatus, they are being sold as Vietnamese Multi Stripe Zebra Loach from the main supplier.

Not sure - however, the main supplier does ship to the US and I know they reached South America some months back as one of our Brazilian members posted some pics. Hopefully someone from your side of the pond will be able to help you out.

Thanks Emma,

I will keep looking. I am thinking of setting up a 20 gallon species only tank for these guys although i dont know where I find the space. I have an 80 gallon right now with 6 B. udomritthiruji, 3. Y. caudipunctata, 6 B. striata and 1 Y. eos and I dont think Yunnanilus are suited for such an environment since they are so small.

How big do these guys get in inches (or centimeters it doesnt really matter).

Emma, what would estimate their size is for the ones that just came in recently...

They are being shipped at less than 1" TL. As they dont attain much more than 1.5", and are very peaceful, tankmates would need to be of a similar size and disposition really. Definitely a no-go with the bigger botiids, particularly those that are rather feisty. I think you should find space for that 20 (there is always space, somehow). :wink:

Well I have managed to find someone who is getting them in so now I REALLY need to set up a tank in the next couple of weeks.......??

From the info that I have Y. cruciatus are commonly found in shallow standing waters with dense vegetation with clay, mud or sand bottom, it is common place to find them in rice-field canals and ditches.

I am planning a species tank for these myself that will have sand substrate and heavily planted with Hygrophila polysperma and/or Rotala rotundifolia or Rotala "nanjenshan"

Thanks for that info, I will have to get cracking soon. I have identified a space last night where I think I can CRAM a 20 gallon long into...we will see how it works out..lol

Oooh, Is Frank getting these Mike? I'm moving tanks around so maybe...

Can they live with pangios in a planted tank, at least for a while? They could have a 20 long in a month or so...

I got an email from him last night saying he would order them next week so I am hoping they come through. No word on how many he's planning on ordering. Will keep you updated! How many are you looking for?
