Post by mickthefish » Fri Mar 20, 2009 3:35 pm

both me and Neil are a bit annoyed at his supplier, the toerag did'nt send my big striata  , but thats another story. these are some of the loaches from India, Laos and Thailand.
these are a very cute schistura from Myanamar, all that was given for them is sp Rakhine, i got ten of these.
Image
they have two types of homeloptera, one is yunnanilus and the other i'm not sure of, could be a new species for all i know.

Mick, how many Schistura's are left. I wouldn't mind a few of those chaps! 8)

Second one looks like a Schistura nicholsi.

Both types...

Very nice fish!!!
That cat looks like one of the Glyptothorox species.
The Homaloptera type hillstreams look something like this oddball species I have had for years that has never grown larger than 1.3" (3cm). I believe Emma has one like it.

Do those Schistura in the first pic look like these ones? http://forums.loaches.com/viewtopic.php?t=17457 Seems coincidental that they are also being called S. sp Rakhine.

Those big Y. modesta are beautiful, what amazing colour on the fins. 8) Jim is right, those Homaloptera do indeed look like an oddball I've had in my river tank these past few years.

It's a shame about the big B. striata though. :(

Jim the homaloptera are around 2 1/2 to 3 inches long, very nice but my river tank is over capacity now, so i had to leave them there. life sucks sometimes mate.

How big are the modesta, and are both shots of the same fish? I've got a little one of the same iridescent aqua and orange/yellow, and the rest of mine look like the first one- blue/purple and orange.
Did they come from the same spot/river/country?

The cats are serious critters- i forget the name. Teeth like you wouldn't believe. This seems to be what a cat has to do (evolutionarily) to make it in the loach-lands of Asia: go mid-water or go very predatory.

Andyroo, i tried to get a size but it was hard as they were mostly staying at the back of the tank, my guess would be a good 7 inches body for the biggest going down to 6+ inch for the smallest.
the glypto's are not the giant ones these were around 4 inches, they had another sp that would suit the fastest current we could supply it was so streamlined. cracking fish.
