On the wise advice of Jim, I'm doing research regarding this species of loach. Any information from anyone who has this species would be helpful. Also...does anyone keep Batik loaches? (sorry can't remember the scientific name on that one, I'll look it up later). Yeah, I know a year or so ago I said I was done collecting loaches but they are just so darn addicting! The rest of the " collection" is doing well...Khuli population keeps growing though, ...so I had to buy another tank (had to...as far as my husband knows!) Hello, my name is Beth and I'm a fishaholic.

There is not much information on the Micronemachelius pulcher. Your lucky to find these Loaches.

About the Neomacheilus triangularis. These Batik loaches are a loach which requires space for them to 'hold' there own Territory's. Mid temperatures of 75/77 should be held for them. Over the 4 years of me keeping these loaches, I've noticed that they are not particularly liked within each other (i.e not social if crowded).

They don't get along with each other...what about other types of loaches? Would they be okay with the clowns? Actually, the clowns are getting so big that I doubt they'll be too harrassed, but I'm hoping to add other loaches too. If they are too nasty I think I'll pass on them. thanks for the information!

Other loaches are fine with these (given which other species temperament's and water temps). But the temperature's are not compatible with Clowns. I'm afraid.

Thanks. My tank is presently78-80 F. Everybody has been doing good in it, but is the temp wrong for the clowns and other Botias? (all my tanks, except the goldies are about that temp)

Your temperature is fine for Clowns (and other botiine). Brook/Hillstream loaches prefer slightly cooler waters.

I used to keep two Micronemacheilus pulcher (now known as Traccatichthys pulcher) in my River Tank until we had a disaster with the filter hoses a while back. They were a very beautiful species, and somewhat hard to come by. They are a member of the family Balitoridae, (subfamily Nemacheilinae), and as such prefer a good amount of current/oxygenation in the tank, as well as sub-tropical temperatures. The current would be fine for the Clowns, but the temperatures would not (too low) so your best bet is to set up a separate tank for them. I didn't find my T. pulchers to be aggressive, but I'm sure I remember reading reports from others on here who said theirs were pretty fiesty.

Hope this helps,

Hi,

I keep a group of about 7-8 of these in an 80 gallon aquarium. I have never had any problems with aggression or territorial behavior. They are very peaceful towards themselves and their neighbors. They occasionally come out of hiding during the day to forage, much like corydoras.

Their coloration and patterning is simply outstanding.
