Hi all,

So I had a good look at my tank today and observed one ridiculously gravid Y. caudipunctata. I mean, this fish is just laden with eggs as far as I can tell. I never had Botiid fish spawn in my aquarium before...I know they are egg scatterers, but what are the chances some fry would survive....assuming the eggs will be fertilized.....which is a big assumption to make.

i think Mike it will all depend on how many other fish you have in the tank as well as what the substrate consists of, i would imagine a decent layer of the large sized gravel would protact some of the eggs though.
wishing you the best of luck mate.

i recently heard of a bloke in the UK who is getting a small percentage of clown loach fry appearing in his tank.
i'm sure he's still the president of the federation of british aquarist societies his name is Joe Nethersall.

Have anyone had an etopic pregnancy but was able to have a successful pregnancy afterward? I'm 22 years old, and have already had an etopic pregnancy. I don't have STD's, so i don't really know what caused it.The doctor said now my chances of getting it again is very hing, but have anyone had an etopic pregnancy and was able to have a successful pregnancy? What can i do to have a successful pregnancy?

Both my B.striata and my Y.morletti are all very egg bound at the moment, really gravid. No males though...

I wish you lots of luck Mike in spawning them and raising any fry. If it were me I'd set up a tank with gravel and sand substrates a fair amount of rock and wooden decor and a generous helping of plants such as Java Fern and Java moss. Try different triggers such as raising/lowering the temp, the pH and the Nitrate levels if possible. Diet could help as well.

All the best of luck and keep us updated.

Hi Doc,

Well the following morning after my post she looked really thin and I guess all the eggs were eaten...oh well maybe next time...

Thanks for your advice though.
