I usually store the Hikari branded frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp in the cylinder/rectangular taka-away plastic containers in the freezer. I have not encountered any problems in the past.

However, after finishing with one container, I went to the other container with the bloodworms and noticed that the were slightly dried up. I'm not sure if this is because the freezer has been set to a lower temp, but I was wondering if this is the case, can I still feed the bloodworms to the loaches? Or is it safer to chuck them out?

it's safer to throw them out ey, it's called freezer burnt.
when i was a butcher i would see that if the seal had been broken on any of the meats, it's taken all the moisture out of that area.

Ditto on the freezer burn - it ruins them. If you like to stock up on the frozen goodies I'd vacuum bag them to avoid this, then just keep one pack at a time opened up. They will stay good for a year this way.

Also helps to put a good eye on the packs at the store - sometimes they are already freezer burned there if they weren't handled well.

I have also noticed that at my local stores they will sell frozen food that has thawed. I try to avoid this at all cost.

I usually slide the cubes in the package to see if they are sticking or if any of the juices are leaking. Hikari is nice, since they don't have the paper carton, so it is easier to see what is being sold.
