Loach growing patterns

I have three loaches left after oosing two to skinny disease. The others are doing great. Two loaches I have are the same size and one smaller. Of the two that were the same size, one has suddenly hit a growth spirt and is quite a bit bigger than the other. The other stays a little greyed out and the smallest has normal coloration. I know that females tend to be plumper than males. Could the loach that has hit this growth spirt be a female? It is rather plump.
