Catfud

My wife's massive orange tabby has developed a chronic renal ailment, thus we get to spend >20 bucks-per-bag for high-test food for his highness for the remainder of his days, another good decade.
So, in a moment of oddity, i did chuck a few morsels of this "Savoy" kibble (Hills Science Diet) in with the loaches. And there was great rejoicing.
The food is supposed to be low-fat, low sodium, high-vitamins etc... and leaves no grease or oil residue on fingers or water.

What arguments are there for/against this sort of treat?

is it ok to chuck cat or dog food in a fish tank? I know my cat likes eating algae waffers.

Well, looking at the 16 different kinds of fish food I have scattered around my house, it appears that all of them have about 3-5% fat content. It seems like the main deal is the protein content (around 30-40%). How much protein is in the catfud?

I can't see it as being harmful once in a while as a treat. I mean, don't feed them catfud all the time (it'd be a waste of money, for one), but I doubt it'd do anything to the loaches. And hey, they're loaches... I've never once encountered a picky eater among them, at least in my experience.

My cat goes wild for Massivore pellets. Keeps tearing the package open and carrying it off. My ferret likes shrimp pellets. Crazy animals. I think my fish like everything.
