Are home-made fish food for marine fish suitable for loaches

Post by manthus » Sat Sep 19, 2009 9:20 am

I am aware of the recipe posted by Martin Thoene
http://www.loaches.com/articles/home-co ... n-fishfood

but wish to find out if those "usually" mixed for marine fish such as frozen cyclopeeze, sea plankton, seaweed, shrimp, squid meat, fish meat are suitable for freshwater fishes, especially clown loaches.

The reason is that I kept marine tank in the past and had very good result with the mix, have access to the freshest ingredients and are familiar with the preparation.

Hope the seniors here can advice and also share their own home-made concoction. Thanks

I don't see why not. One of the ingredients that I use occasionally is mixed frozen shellfish (I think they sell it as an ingredient for Bouillabaisse)
I have tried Cyclopese, (dried form) and none of my fish seemed too excited about it. I ended up adding it to one of the frozen mixes just to get rid of it.
38 tanks, 2 ponds over 4000 liters of water to keep clean and fresh.

Happy fish keeping!

Thanks Diana. I'll take note on the cyclopeeze
