I have read in the forum that clowns need a 5 or 6 foot tank to grow well. I have a chance to get a 110 gallon (about 410 L) tank that is 48" x 29.5" x 18". Because of size would this be an okay tank?

if your filtration and arrangement if decor is ok i can see no problem in keeping clowns in there, but i still agree with the others about a 5 to 6 foot tank being better in the long run.
but as i imagine you are goiing to start of with juveniles i'd go ahead.
it's just a pity the height measurement is not the width instead .

410 liter is a good water volume to raise a school of Clown Loaches, despite de 4 feet long size. Go on!

I have seen that tank, I think; a friend has one. The floor space could be better, more room for caves of driftwood and rocks. More room for the fish to claim a territory. It will work, but if you have a fish that is more aggressive than average I would remove that one. There is not quite so much room for the others to get out of the mean one's space.

However, the gallons are good as far as diluting the waste.
A pretty easy tank to keep the water moving, too.

I keep a school of loaches in a 4 feet tank and so far doing well.
IMHO, as with any size tank good husbandry is the more important aspect.
No point having a 10 feet tank when you are too lazy to do water change/clean filter. Toxin will still catch up sooner or later.

That tank could be ok for a while, but keep in mind that clowns grow fast. For example, my clowns have grown from 2.5 inches to 5 inches in 6 months. Also realize that even a 4 inch clown will not be able to swim at full speed in a 4 foot tank.

4 foot tank is good, I have a 120G for a group of 25 clowns from 2"-12"

Okay, I waited. This past 'black Friday', I bought a 125 gallon aquarium;
72" x 22.5" x 18". Really glad that I did. Got 20% off price at Pet Smarts.

Can't wait until I can put my clowns in it. Plants are on order and should be here tomorrow or Friday.

Good choice! You will be happy that you waited since it will be such a better tank for the clowns. The tank looks beautiful.
