Clown Loach and external worm / parasite

Post by bieksa_rocks » Sun Oct 25, 2009 3:18 pm

Hi all just fed my CL's tonight and I've noticed on my smallest loach that it has what could be external worms or parasites?, not to sure if they are or not they flap / wave about when the CL swims about and are slightly bigger in thickness than a head hair and are about 2mm or less in length and white, doesn't look like ich as in grains of salt looking specs.

I use Interpet as my tanks brand of treatment and was looking at treatment number 5 Liquisil or treatment number 10 Methylene Blue

I can't get a photo as it's just to small and the loach is way to fast moving, it's eating fine swiming fine all my other CL's appear to be fine.

Any advice would be appreciated please especially from any CL owners in the UK so makes getting a hold of UK sold treatments easier as not all available here etc.

Thanks,

AJ.

I have heard decent things about the Interpet product line, so use the one they suggest.
Yes, fish can have external parasites. Another possibility is a small scratch that has a little skin or slime coat trailing from it.
38 tanks, 2 ponds over 4000 liters of water to keep clean and fresh.

Happy fish keeping!

Thanks Diana for the reply and sorry for the delay in reply, I've been keeping an eye on all the loaches doesn't appear to be a parasite as none have died, hasn't spread etc. to the other loaches or any other breeds of fish. I think you might of been right about the slime coat I added a treatment I can't recall it's name but is one of those repair slime coat, treat water for water replacement etc. seems to have done the job, all loaches are healthy swimming fine eating well etc.

Many Thanks :D

AJ.
