Has anyone used "ZeoSand" in their loach tank(s)? I'm not having much luck in finding 3M Colorquartz but I've been able to find a source for this stuff. Here's a link to the site

Even if you have not used it, I'm interested in your opinions of it.
Thanks in advance,
Linda

Have not heard of it, but in doing a Google I found this:
Each bag of ZeoSand is 100% natural zeolite of the highest quality commercially available.

and...
I am following the suggestion to use zeolite in my new 32g uncycled planted tank to avoid algae outbreaks by removing NH4. But I'm wondering, after the month is up and the media is exhausted, will I suddenly start seeing ammonia readings?

Hi bookpage,
I thought about the advantages of it removing NH4 but didn't even think about the possibility of it becoming "exhausted." I'm glad you pointed that out. But even if it does become exhausted I don't think there would be an ammonia issue as long as the aquarium is properly maintained. I could be very wrong about this so hopefully more LOL members will give their opinions.

I'd avoid it. I don't want substrates in my tank that will alter the water chemistry. I prefer inert substrates, unless I'm trying to grow plants. Then I'd look for something like Eco Complete.

Yeah, I'm not going to use it. After bookpage mentioned the ammonia absorbtion I began wondering what effect it would have on the cycle. Oh well, the search continues...
