Physoschistura shanensis (Hora, 1929)
From Fort Steadman on the shores of Inlé Lake in southern Shan States, Myanmar.

I picked up 6 of these cuties yesterday from Harold Slater at The Menagerie.























Note the peachy coloured metallic areas on the pectoral and pelvic fins.









Harold also has some of what I'm pretty sure are Acanthopsoides molobrion. They're certainly not regular Horsefaces.

Nice to see he has fish again!

dropped by in Sept. to find nothing but renos.

I did get a couple of large histies in the GTA though...I'd guess around 6".

I love the barbels on these two, especially the upper one

The upper one is one of several Nemacheilus masyai that I have. So far the Physoschistura sinensis have proven very peaceful. They were very aware of food going in the tank today and picked up scraps of frozen mixture as they blew past in the current.

i thought they might be peaceful, the ones i got from emmas although quite large are real softies.
i hope yours eat as well as mine Martin, theyre gannets.

My fishes are quite peaceful. Moreover, sometimes they play between each other.

But they defend their territory (bottom part of the place I feed them) and trying to keep other species off from this area.

I have a question about Lake Inle Loaches. I've also got from Menagerie store. I'm not sure that are another places to get them in GTA

I'm worrying about their ability to get food. I feed them bloodworms. I have to place worms right before their noses, otherwise my other fishes (platies and gouramies) eat all worms very fast.
I see that my Lake Inle Loaches just can't compete with other fishes for food. When I dropped worms on the top of the water or even in the middle of the tank water, loaches got nothing.

How do you feed them?
I might need to use another tactics to deviled food to them?

Should I use other food?

I'm amazed. Mine are like Hollywood Piranha when I put food in the tank. They compete very adequately with much bigger fish in the tank.

I have used a one inch or 1.5 inch diameter PVC tube about two feet long to deliver food to the bottom of the tank.
I stand it up so the bottom of the tube is on or near the substrate and the top is above the surface.
This way the food goes down the tube and the other fish can't get at it.
The loaches wait at the bottom of the tube to feed or sometimes swim up the tube to grab the pellet or worm on the way down

Thank you. This is quite funny, because this is exactly the way I feed them.

But I have to do this very careful. I deliver only several worms each time (I have them defrost a glass of water), loaches can't eat fast, but other fishes can.
I have to place the tube right near their noses, otherwise they can't find them quickly and worms are going into platies mouth
I'm trying to draw other fish’s attention by feeding them at the same time in other part of my tank.

The quite stupid thing about this feeding is that I feed them such way during a week three times a day. And loaches are always swimming up and down along the tube and loose at least half of the worms. But worms never appear from sides of the tube, they always come out from the end. I expected loaches accustom to this and just way in the right place.

I feed them three times a day. Each fish (approximately 2" long) got 3-5 bloodworms each time.
I might overfeed that and this reduce their activity and wit?
