I was on a bit of a road trip the other day & saw the smallest sidthimunki ever, 1/4 inch TL! It was in with some 1/2" ones & about as big around as a pencil lead. I was admiring the gold coloring of the bigger ones or I'd have missed him. I hope that's not going to become the new standard retail size

Unfortunately i also have seen some imports which are 'tiny'. They seem active enough and healthy, but like you says Nancy. These are small.

I also have seen some very small Botia Sidthimunki. I wanted to purchase some but the tiny size scared me a little.
This is where I have seen them. In person not just online. Lucky to live close

The fish shop I frequent always has about 1/2"-1" striata and yoyo's they are so small I need more striata but I'm afraid they'd get eaten if I bought them and they'd make some spendy food.

To think I was worried about 1/2" sids only 8 months ago. The 1 I saw would easily be sucked into any filter intake. I did buy some 1.2" striatas recently so maybe we are encouraging this practice.

We're probably encouraging the practice, but if 1/2 inch loaches are appearing in the hobby, they're quite likely pond-bred. I don't know that any sids are collected from the wild any more. There's good and bad here, but it gets a little fuzzy.

Mike, I'm not sure of the store name, very small pets supply-type place with not many tanks. Between Fall River & Providence (I-195 ) on rte 6 in a shopping center with a Building 19. The guy was quite into plants. Sids were $12, 3/30, not very many of them. FYI, I was at Lovely Pets in Quincy not long ago & they had 1 sid @ $6!! The guy said they get them off & on.
Can you tell me some of your favorite stores? Uncle Ned's & Tropic Isle are pretty local for me but as you can tell, I like road trips too. Thanks.

Hi Nancy,
Thanks for the info.
I live in Sharon, MA so Uncle Ned's and Petco on Route 1 in Norwood are basically the only 2 places I visit when I am home from school.
