I'd love to have a setup like yours, we see our ones 3 times a week at most.

I've got a question about the care of these animals... I would like a group of four or so, and I would like to set up a dedicated tank for them, so I joined this place. Anyone know how to best set up a tank for these guys (and how to get it done cheaply?)

Donna,
Are those kuhlis beneath an under gravel filter ?
If so, that makes it very easy to see them

Hello Donna,
Nice Pictures and interresting tank setup.
I have some "cool kuhlis" too and I like them very much.
They are really interresting to watch, when they come out
of their hiding places for feeding.
Here a picture of one of my cool kuhlis.
greetings Thomas

Mine don't always hang together. And there's one who often zips around the tank by himself. But they're such fun when they're all wiggly together, especially when I feed them they truly are psychedelic.

HI All,
Can I make a few suggestions on ways to make all your kuhli's happier?
Plant live plants in clay pots, and line them up at the back and/or sides of your tanks. This will not only add additional filtration but another place for your kuhli's to dart behind. You must take care to plant the plant in a manner that will allow for optimal growth because healthy plants filter the water better than unhealthy plants... Anyways place a small amount of gravel in the bottom of your pot, then add top soil, NOT POTTING SOIL, plant a few plants in each pot, smaller plants will work better for this, Cryptocoryne wendtii can sometimes be bought in a pot with 15+ different sized plants! Also Micro swords and Sagittaria subulata reproduce rather quicky when planted this way. Be sure to change your light bulb if you have not done so in the last 6 months and continue to change it evey 6-9 months.
You can find more info at
www.aquaticplantcentral.com
This is not a plug for that web site, I just want people to be more informed about ways to make fish tanks more natural and stress free for fish!
