I think Schistura disparizona will become everybody's new "must have".

INCREDIBLE!

Martin.

I seldom wander over here, but that is one cool looking loach!

Yeah, amazing pictures! The Schistura disparizona looks like two different species 'stuck' together.

Nice 8)

Definately simular to Emma's S. Balteata in that 'half and half' kind of way.

Wonder what purpose those extreme markings serve in their natural habitats? Must be some reason for them to have evolved that way. Hmmmm.... front halfs more camoflaged becouse it rests half in / half out of caves or tight spaces, perhaps?

Just a suggestion, feel free to take the p**s if its ridiculous.

Or it's a 'male' showing a strong breeding colouration. All in all. It's amazing!

Are some of them weather loaches? Some of them definatly had the body style, but I'm sure thats not all you can go on.

What a fantastic critter !

Now that this is the new must-have how is the industry at the first-world consumer-end going to ensure sustainable harvest/availibility? I'm sure the national regulator in its home region won't carry that potato.

Andyroo (bit of a killjoy... sorry)

One weird fish (drooling a bit)...I wonder if the head and the dorsal are as they supposed to be or damaged?

But I'm drooling even more about

Image

(from the same thread)...a half-erased hillstream-like pattern... 8)

Yeah this are Lepidocephalichthys berdmorei. Lovely peaceful loaches which are 'vast' in appearance and distribution. I keep 3 of these chaps.

Likely that we won't be allowed to import the Schisturas into the UK, due to the recent legislations.
