I just brought home, late this evening, some new loaches today. I bought them in a group buy from a guy in Dallas
http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/ ... 1274532604 that orders from
http://www.wetspottropicalfish.com/ .
They were shipped from Seattle to Dallas and arrived around 1:00 pm CST.
I now have 5 Yasuhikotakia splendida and 3 Serpenticobitis octozona. They are doing great in their new homes and even eating. Nothing shy about any of them.
Had to drive over 115 miles to pick them up, but saved me some on shipping. The trip was worth it.
Here are a few pictures:

Does anyone know about the care and feeding of these Serpenticobitis octozona? There doesn't seem to be much info out there. I'm assuming they would just go into the 120 g, 76 degree f, heavy filtration plus one powerhead, regular old loach tank. As opposed to the try-to-keep it cool, manifold, two powerhead river tank? We're hoping to get some too.

As for the serpenticobitas, fishbase has this:
Occurs in clear, high gradient mountain streams with very swift current, large boulders and rich and diverse fish faunas. Also found in other habitats such as with quite rocky bottom and equally high fish diversity and with a more unstable gravelly bottom and much less fish diversity.
Doesn't mention temperature, but it sounds like cooler would be better. The river tank, not the big loach tank.

I will keep everyone posted on how they are doing. They are in my 75 gallon with other small (under 4") loaches.
