I have read a lot about theese little guys and I can't wait to get a few. In a month or so I am planning to set up a planted 55g aquarium. I will transfer my fish from my 29g into the larger one. (5 angelfish, 1 kuhli loach, 2 plecos, 1 hoplo cat, 1 swordtail, 1 male betta, 2 zebra danios, and 1 female gold gourami.) I was planning to get a couple new fish when I set up the 55g. I was wondering how many clown loaches I should get. ANy suggestions?
Thank you,
Kelly

Welcome, Angelfish12. Glad that you joined us.
Here is a link with some information about clowns:
http://www.loaches.com/species-index/cl ... cracanthus
And, from that page:
"Adults will eventually require an aquarium measuring at least 6’ x 2’ x 2’. Even small specimens of this species must initially be housed in an aquarium that is 4ft long as a minimum. Anything smaller can cause these fast-swimming fish to become stunted and stressed. "
A 55 gallon will be okay for about a year, but they will need to be move to a larger aquarium after that. Clowns should be kept in groups. The minimum recommendation is 5, but basically the more the merrier. I would get 6-8 if you can move them to a large tank later on.
