I was planning on yo yo loaches for my planted tank, but have read in several different places that they tear the heck out of plants and uproot them. I know most loaches do this, but is there one kind of loach that isn't as bad?

My sidthimunki, striata & pangios don't bother crypts, rotala rotundifolia, ferns. But my histrionica eat swords & some crypts & I think my clowns do too now after a few years of not. I found feeding romaine, leaf lettuce & zucchini 2-3 times a week helped for a long time. None bothers anubias, java fern or moss, well after a couple test holes

none of my loaches have ever touched the plants; yoyos, kubotai and kuhlis its more the silver dollars that shred them to pieces.

Loaches have become steadily more popular in recent years, and more species are available now than ever before. Some can make excellent community tank residents, but others are challenging fish that demand special care. Because these fish are so new to the hobby, reliable information on their needs can be hard to obtain. In this article we’ll look at these new loaches, and what they need to thrive.
