can Kuhlis and red cherry shrimp live together? I have fallen in love with both of them...

I'd be of the opinion that they would be just fine together. I can't see a kuhli loach doing any harm to the shrimp, maybe the baby shrimp IDK?

I agree. I think the Kuhlies might take shrimplets, but I can't imagine them bothering adult cherry shrimps, and the cherry shrimp would get out of the way. Just have a healthy colony of shrimp to begin with. I have a horde of cherries with guppies and Bristlenoses and a couple African Dwarf Frogs with no noticeable probelms. I believe the frogs eat the shrimplets, but I have never seen them in the act, nor does it affect the size of the shrimp colony which is growing by leaps and bounds.

Hi Patti,
I keep Kuhlis together with red cherry shrimps in the same tank.
There are no problems at all. They live together without any problems
and when it is feeding time, they are close together to feed on the same
spot. What I do not know is, if sometimes young cherry shrimps will be
eaten by the Kuhlis. But my population of red cherries is growing constantly,
so there is nothing to worry about.
What I could see once was, that the Kuhlis have eaten a dead shrimp, but
never attacked a live one, and I think it is good, that the Kuhlis eat the
dead shrimps, because there are so many hiding spots in my tank, I never
could find a dead shrimp in my "jungle", and so the waterquality dont get bad.
Greetings Thomas

I keep cherry shrimp with 2 species of pangios (kuhlis). I haven't noticed any problems, in fact I was sort of hoping the loaches would eat some shrimplets. I added 10 shrimp a few months ago & now have at least 80 without looking really hard.
Thanks

Thanks for all the input! I really appreciate it. Say, one question for those that have the two critters together... what pH do you have your tanks at.

My pH in all my tanks runs between 6-7. I try to keep it a little closer to 6.5-7, so my shrimp and Kuhlies all have water between 6-7. I have kept Kuhlies and shrimp together in the past, just not right now.

Mine is 7-7.2 last time I checked. I keep a small amount of crushed coral in the filter to help the shrimp as I have low KH. 1 or 2 Tablespoons tied in panty hose for a 40g long.
