If anyone has been in my shoes, then you already know that there is no new faucet on the market that's going to accommodate the Python cleaner. So I'm screwed--I can't use the Python to fill the tank anymore since the company has no intentions of making any new parts (their response to my email today).

The kitchen and bath salesman suggested I use a sump pump in a big bucket to fill the tank with a garden hose. It sounded good, but after I thought about it, I wonder if it's safe to use water that has been through the sub pump parts to go into the tank. Anyone have any experience with this?

No pump experience but have you got a bathroom faucet nearby to fit your Python? Or asked at a "real" plumbing supply (not HD/Lowes) for a garden hose size (Python w/adapter) to new sink adapter(s), they have way more stuff & better helpers than big boxes

Hi, I do have a bathroom faucet nearby but the faucet dealer said that the water pressure from a bathroom faucet won't be as powerful as a kitchen faucet so fill time will be very slow. There's more to it too, but too much else to get into. We went through lots of different scenarios. I'm going to ask the plumber coming here in two weeks about it again and what options I may have.

I have tried my python with my kitchen and bath and neither fit. The house was built in the 80's and I assume thing shave not been updated. I had a fish friend try to wort it out for me with no luck. Now to the plumber.

wow, I am surprised to hear about you guys having this problem with your new tap hook ups . Bummer to have the python and can't use it,geez. My house was built in 1928 and I'm sure the kit faucet was updated before we bought it ,and was thinking of changing to newer model...but now... gotta re-think that one. Perhaps gotta take my python to the faucet store and test for fit or not buy new faucet ,even though sick of looking at the one we got now, and I am sure my hubby will complain if I ask him to help me with a ''bucket brigade''.

Wonder what is the chance a small town machine shop can revamp the new tap to fit the python ? Just wondering cuz long time ago , I worked in machine office and sometimes the machinists would do a ''project'' for someone willing to pay a little , make a few tweeks , add a thread fitting if that is the prob, if not a big job.?? just a thought. It wouldn't be hard to build a one size fits all adapter.

If I were to build one, I'd probably use some type of quick release clamp instead of a hose clamp.

edit:
They sell this adapter at Amazon also, which they have a few user reviews worth reading. Sounds like you need to be extra careful not to over tighten the clamp with this product.

I was told by the faucet guy that trying to attach a hookup like you suggested, Keith, would begin to take the finish of my bathroom faucet but also because the small hole of the attachment that the water would have to travel to could back up in my pipes and cause an issue. Who wants an issue? LOL Not me.

It was also suggested to buy a sump pump to pump the water out of a big bucket as it filled from tap. That seemed like a doable idea, but I feared using one out of machinery oils getting into the water. I posted asking about sump pumps for fish tanks but didn't get any reply notifications of use unfortunately. But I think there are pumps specifically geared for fish use out there as long as I can attach a tight fitting hose to it for refills.
