Lights and temperature

I know that most clown loach information I can find says that the tank temperature for clowns should be somewhere in the range of 75-86 F. Is there a more accurate "sweet spot?"

I tend to keep it in the range of 79.5-81F, trying to keep it as stable as possible. Should I move it up or down?

I know clowns like it fairly dark. I know this only because they sure hide a lot during the day! As far as my aquarium lights, how long should I leave them on during the day? They are usually on from 7am - 8pm. Is that too long/short?

I would reduce your light time to about 10 hours if you can. You can still grow quite healthy plants in the tank with a shorter photoperiod. I keep my Botias at 80F, and they're just fine.
