Last week my favorite LFS have Sewellia elongata listed in his stock list!!!
So i pick up some.
But i´m not sure if S. elongata is right, the body shape and markings are diffrent as the other S. elongata shown on this side??
I think it could be two species?

Are the first pics of smaller fish? I know sewellia markings change quite a bit from fry to adult.

At first I thought the same, but they are only 1-1,5cm smaller.
And the head shape from Type1 is slightly more pointed.
Maybe the head shape gets rounder with age?

interesting markings in sp 01.
it won't be easy to find an answer.
the second species could be s. breviventralis.
in case they have yellow bordered pectorals and ventrals they would correspond with the species from Laos, presented by K. Udomrittthiuji in AMAZONAS Mai/June as s. elongata.
Roberts didn't make a remark about this fact.
for me your species looks like s breviventralis in the revision of J. Freyhof. but who knows?
pictures - underside etc - could be useful to get closer.
there are 5 s. spp on the market. your first species makes it six. it's time for a revision.

They're both nice but the first one is especially nice! Love the markings!!

Wow, both lovely but that first one is a stunner. My first thought was that it might be juvenile but there's no reason unnamed species shouldn't be turning up now again so who knows! Keep us updated.

Update;
My new Sewellia sp. doing very well, they are absolutely not shy and always in front of the tank like the lineolatas.
They are extreme good surfers, the head shape is slightly more pointed so I think they come from faster flowing habitats.
They are not as territorial as other Sewellia types and like to sit in a small group together.
I hope that they breed is so easy to make as the lineolatas, they are unstoppable!
Lately they show much more colour.

I'm glad to hear they're doing so well. They certainly have colored up nicely!
