Hi there,
Does anyone know what a peacock loach is? I have no info other than the name. A fish wholeseller sent me their fish list.
Thanks.

Discussion here suggests either
Acanthocobitis pavonacea or
Lepidocephalichthys annandalei
Looks like he got the same list

the species shown is lepidocephalichthys annandalei, a female. one of my pics on seriouslyfish.com. seems they have no problems to break copyrights.

Thank you all for these great pictures, and sending me in the right direction. So I could keep these with my Kuhlies and Horseheads in a sandy bottom tank with lots of plants and hiding places? According to the info 4 or more.
Thanks.

sounds good. they are "sand-divers", a little shy and slow in taking food. so have a good look at the little cuties if they have a rounded belly. in my tank they seemed to do better at 8 KH than in softer water and with moderate but regular water-changes.

Thanks Charles,
I think I might give them a try. I do regular water changes. The tank supports lots of different fish, and some messy eaters, so I imagine that sand must have food particles that can be sifted out. Maybe I could keep them in my sandy nursery tank while they adjust to make sure they are eating comfortably.
My Horseface is quite chunky and appears quite happy.
