I've located some Peppermint Loach online and I've been told they have similar personalities to Dojos but in a smaller size. So I was wondering if anyone had information on this Loach. I really want to know what temperature they have to be kept at. As I am planning a subtropical tank (roughly 22c temp) and I'm looking for a smaller alternative to the Weather Loach, as I've been told that my three foot tank is too small for Weather Loaches.

I've also been told that Weather Loaches are a bad idea with Peppered Cory Cats, as they are too big and the Cory Cats won't get enough food.

Re: Peppermint Loach
Do you mean pepper loaches? They look like Dojos but are smaller and have different requirements.
I have kept dojos and cories together for years with no problems. Dojos are like keeping sweet puppies.
I found pepper loaches to be shyer than weathers

Um, I'm not sure.starsplitter7 wrote:Do you mean pepper loaches? They look like Dojos but are smaller and have different requirements.
Their scientific name is Traccatichthys taeniatus.

Yes that's them!
I just need to know if they won't freeze to death in my tank, lol. The temperature will be about 20c to 23c.

Re: Peppermint Loach
Oh, thank you so much bookpage!
I think you've just made my day.
The only bit that worries me now is in the second link it used the words 'fairly peaceful' but it did say they ignore other fish. Hopefully that includes cory cats!
It's strange that the site they are actually for sale on doesn't mention the temperature.
