Carniverous, very carniverous Tiger.

Post by Vancmann » Mon Aug 28, 2006 2:05 pm

Early this morning before my tank lights came on, while on my computer I found the source of dissapearing Cardinals, some other tetras and the cleanly bitten off tail of a relatively large columbian tetra. I had noticed the Tiger in a frantic feeding frienzy darting about after the few remaining and fastest of the tetras. I have never seen the tetras panic like this before. I have to do something for this!!
What may have started this behavior is probably the fact that two of my lelupis started breeding and some of the uneaten babys actually get to grow to about 1/2 inch or so then to eventually be caught by the tiger. The babys are fiercely protected by the parents before they are strong enough to swim away from their cave and sourronding area. I have seen the tiger stalk one of the baby african cichlid before.
Just wanted to share this.

Large species of Syncrossus will take smaller fish. They are best kept with medium sized fast swimming fish that can look after themselves.
