There remains quite a bit of confusion about these Indian/Pakistan Botia's ,for instance I read somewhere that B.birdi could be up to 2 pounds in weight , and they look superficially similar to Rostrata according to reports ' I think they are found in north eastern Pakistan ,so its a good bet we haven't encountered them ?

When TheDarkone did his work on the Botia group he thought it was possible that we were dealing with 2 maybe 3 different fish that look superficially similar ,all under the Rostrata banner ?

When you buy Rostratas as small fish they alter as they age ,but they differ from each other, there's the one where the pattern becomes an all over spotted not too disimilar to B.kubota ?

And the one where the bands develope spots within the bars , and seem generally smaller but chunkier ?

Wow. Anyway they are very similar to almorhae and my last purchase of almorhae had 2 rostratas in it and they have been bin australia for 40 years. i guess they are easily mixed up and perhaps come from the same place
