so, i have a 50 gallon take, and am getting a 120-150 gallon tank, i already have a loach( only had him a week or so, because i know they should be in a group so didn't want him to be lonely for long), 2 tiger barbs( not agresive, have had them for about 4 months), some sort of eel( not aggresive i have seen, but he only comes out when the lights are out so not positive) and a algae eater( just forgot the name.... they get big, forgot it :P). i am planing on getting some more loaches, types on how many would fit in it, oh and i have sand for the substrate, some pictus cat fish, types again on #, and any other suggestions and please make sure they are all friendly

We need a bit more info. First is the new big tank cycled? If not, I would put the filter on the 50 and get it innoculated with the bacteria from the 50. Most loaches, eels, . . . need tanks cycled 3-6 months before you add them. You can instantly seed the filters, by using material from an old filter and putting it in the new. How long has the 50 been set up?

Second: What type of loach do you have? Changes are he needs friends.

Third: What kind of eel do you have and how big is it? If you don't know what kind, post a picture. In a 125 gallon I would have have 10-20 tiger barbs, but I would exchange them and get 10-20 giant danios or rainbow fish for top level schoolers. The tiger barbs are fin nippers.

Fourth: Is the algae eater a pleco or a Chinese Algae eater? Do you feed it? I feed my plecos zucchini (no tank has enough algae to support and algae eater. If you got a chinese algae eater, turn him in to the LFS. They do not eat algae and they do not come from China. They will eventually kill your fish.

Let us know the answers to the questions and what country you live in, and it will be easier to give you some advice.

yes, i am cycling my tank now, 3-6 months, really that long?

i have a spotted pleco

i am not sure about the eel but its part of the knife fish family

and i also put some of the sand in the new tank from the old one, is that going to speed it up?

and the 50 has been up for, i think about 1 or so years, give or take a few months

forgot to post

yes i feed my pleco solid algae wafers, they have a concentrated center, and i usually split it up because all the other fish snack on it
