hillstream loach and eyelid

Post by hmoobthor » Sun Feb 10, 2013 11:29 am

so i watch a video of my hillstream loach that i record of and so has others...

I was told that they can see it blink...which i can confirm it did indeed in my tank and video..

its not like a roll of the eye like other fish...

it litteral blink as in human blink...i can see the eye struction and all close ...and i ask around.

So can anyone shine light on this...i really want to know if some species can do this?

They have no eyelids so they can't blink. However, hillstreams often move their eyes in a manner that looks like a blink. I'm not sure what the purpose of that is, but if you watch the fish for a bit you will see it.

Yes. They tend to twitch their eyes in a way that looks like blinking.
