Botia almorhae behaviour compared with clowns???

Hello!

I have the chance to buy 6 Botia almorhae. I have until now been in to clowns.

Are the Botia almorhae as dayactive as the clowns? More shy? More boring?

Tell me your experience!

OK, my 2c.

Everyone's experience is probably going to be different.

In my case, both clowns and yoyo's are active and I see them most of the time (there are 6 and 5 right now, in different tanks), there is almost no hiding going on.

In terms of "entertainment value", clowns are more interesting: they operate as a group, while yoyo's are individuals. I would not call this "boring", but I also saw very little of interesting behavior from them, comparing to other species: they are just in the tank. moving around and always looking for food.

I don't mean to put them down and I'm glad I have them, but in terms of provided entertainment, my B.almorhae are behind B.Kubotai, Schisturas, or most of the hillstreams.

See if you can get B.Kubotai or B.Striata instead. They are a bit more interesting, prettier, and also take less space.

My clowns are very reclusive right now, hardly ever see them out at the moment, they've only been in the tank 1-2 weeks now, what's the normal time for them to be out during the day more? My yoyo (getting a few more in the next few days is out qwuite a lot during the day tho

(Just kidding).

My feeling about Striata's is that they are more schooling, and there is some interraction going -- but I don't keep them myself yet, only observed them elsewhere, so may be off. With Kubotai's, whom I do keep, they stage occasional fascinating leadership contests. Once a month or even less often, but this is totally fascinating.
