Botia Sidthimunki & Kribs

Post by mattseale » Sun Oct 08, 2006 4:17 pm

Hi, I am in the process of restocking my tank and have 3x Botia Sidthimunki, does anyone have any experience on if they will be ok if I introduce a pair of Kribs?

Many Thanks

You would probably be ok if your tank is of reasonable size and if the Y. sidthimunki are more-or-less fully grown and the kribs are still quite small. I think a more pressing matter would be to add more Y. sidthimunki to your shoal though - they do so much better in bigger social groups.

How many would you consider adding?

My tank is 130L, 81cm(w) x 36cm(d) x 50cm(h).

Me? I'd go up to 10 sids total in that tank, assuming that you have adequate filtration, but the problem is that it's not really big enough to include a pair of Kribs because they absolutely will breed ,and then there's going to be brood guarding going on. Then the babies will grow and unless you have somewhere else for them, the whole tank will get overcrowded.
