Let's Give This A Go

Since my question was never answered, I better ask it again. My pink/orange weather loach has a dark brown spot on his/her back, and on his/her head. Still very active, eating normally, but spends a lot of time inside of the dragoncave.

It might be a personality thing, I don't know. My other weather loach is always active and loves to dangle off of plants and lay in the bamboo. I just did a water change two days ago, and cleaned the bottom of the cage a few hours ago. I stopped using melafix today, as it's day seven.

The only real problem(besides the spots) that I can see is the way he/she breathes. It seems a little heavy and quick, but I recently added a bubblewand thing for air. Unfortunately, this heated up the water. And while you readers are here, could you give me an idea to cool down the water?

So, in conclusion(and everyone who didn't read it) I need two questions answered.

1) What are the two dark spots on my pink weather loach?

2)How can I cool down my water?

If you've got a long enough airline you could put the air pump next to a partly open window, should suck in cooler air that way

Would it be possible for you to post a pic? How long has he had the 'spots'? Do they seem raised, or sunken at all? Could they be just part of his natural coloration? Are they red-rimmed? Solid, or diffuse, or changing at all since your last posts?

It's nearly impossible to tell you what they are if we can't see them, which is likely why you did not get an answer to that question...

As for the airstone/pump heating the water: what temp is it at now? I remember you were planning to reduce it. How much of a change did you acheive?

4 degrees, as the bubble thing raised it again. I'll get my dad to fix it up later.

I don't own a camera, but I could try to find one of my parents'. The spots are just spots, not raised or sunk in. Just spots. SHE has had the spots for about three months, I think. When I moved her into the new tank, they started appearing. I did have her in a small tank before moving her in, so I don't know. I treated her with melafix for 7 days, yesterday being the seventh day. I feed her tropical flakes, blood worms, and trying to see if she'll eat snails.

Do the spots look anything like regular markings???

One of mine came to me with one spot, and developed 2 more over the next few months. Nothing strange about it, they just came on as it grew

In otherwords, it could be perfectly normal for yours too.

Thanks, I'm starting to think it's just markings, but I wanted to be sure. It looks wierd with it being pink and the spots being brown, and since melafix did nothing at all...
