Striata - The mid-water terroriser?

Post by adampetherick » Fri Oct 20, 2006 12:15 pm

I added 3 striata to the main tank, they appeared to settle in well and are currently chasing the rasbora and barbs...

Is this normal or are they just settleing in? Thought striata were peacefull!

As far as i'm aware. They are just 'active' little chaps. No harm should be done.

Add two more!

They are just finding their feet, er...fins. Loaches tend to be quite curious when first added to a different set-up, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Like Graeme says though, you'll want to add a few more.

Mine will "whisker" the barbs but they have learned to just ignore him.

I'm hoping to get a couple more, but I don't want to overstock my tank. Hopefully two more would be enough to add to the single one I have. Do you really think three is too few, Graeme and Emma? Even now he's not really alone--there are rostrata and yoyos.

The reason I have only one is that he was the only loach in the store when I bought him.

Three is an absolute minimum, five would be much much better for the fish.

I always find with keeping more, you often see the real 'characteristic's' of these great Loaches.
