My loach sick??

Post by chotaadmi » Fri Oct 20, 2006 2:18 pm

So i recently bought 2 clown loach not too long ago maybe a week ago and now one of my clown loaches has red spots right on the gills. I dont know if this is a sickness or what. I need some advice on what to do. I check all the ph and stuff and everything is fine. Temp is at 78ish. I have those melaflex and pimaflex meds. What should i do? I got 2 loaches and 2 Angels. Thanks in advance.

Thats not a good combo. Sounds like you smacked a tank together because what you're describing sounds like Ammonia or nitrite is burning up their gills. Did you cycle the tank? Loaches should be in 5's or more... How big is the tank?

the tank is 30 gallons. Yea kinda small for them. I have a extra brand new 10 gallon i can use to isolate any fish. I check amonia and all and its all fine.

Can you describe the red spots on the gills? Does it look like something external on the surface or like the gills themselves, behind the gill plates, are red and irritated? Are they hanging out near the surface or showing any other signs of having difficulty breathing?
