HIYA IM NEW TO THIS FORUM AND AFTER READING SOME POSTS IT SEEMS LIKE A GOOD PLACE TO COME FOR SOME HELP.
THE PROBLEM I HAVE IS WITH 1 OF MY 3 CLOWNS! I MOVED HOUSE 4 WEEKS AGO AND SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD A 3 FISH DIE 1 GLOWLIGHT TETRA AND 1 ALBENO CATFISH FOR NO APPENT REASON AND 1 OF MY 2 GLASS CAT FISH WHICH DIED FROM FIN ROT AFTER NOT TAKING TO THE TREATMENT IN A ISOLATION TANK.
I HAVE HAD 2 WATER TESTS SINCE WITH MY LOCAL AQUARIUM RETAILER AND ALL WAS GOOD.
AFTER MOVING WHITE SPOT DEVELOP IN THE TANK BUT TREATED IT AT THE EARLY STAGE WHICH SEEMS TO HAVE GONE. I HAVE PUT THE CARBON FILTERS BACK IN AND HAVE DONE A GRAVEL VAC AND 50 % WATER CHANGE YESTERDAY (21/10/06).
BACK TO MY CLOWN, HE SEEMS LIFELESS ALWAYS LYING ON THE BOTTOM ON ITS SIDE ARCHED OVER ????? HE HAS GOT THIN COMPAIRED TO THE OTHER 2 WHICH SEEM FINE. HE DOES STILL MOVE AS HE IS IN OTHER PLACES IN THE TANK DURING THE DAY BUT STILL ON HIS SIDE.
HE HAS BEEN LIKE THIS FOR ABOUT 5 DAYS NOW IT SEEMS VERY STRANGE I KNOW THEY DO SOMETIMES LAY ON THERE SIDES BUT THIS SEEMS OUT OF THE NORM.
IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO FOR HIM OR DOES ANY ONE HAVE ANY ADVICE. I DO HAVE AN ISOLATION TANK I CAN TREAT HIM IN IF NEEDS BE BUT WHEN I DONT KNOW WHATS WRONG ITS HARD.

Sounds like internal paradsites.

We need more information if you want us to help.
What size tank?
What kind of filtration?
What are your water parameters? pH, temp, nitrite, nitrate ammonia?
Any recent changes in inhabitants or routine?
What kind of maintenance do you do?

It's good that you have a tank you can use for treatment. It is possible the thin clown may have internal parasites. A pic or two would be very helpful. 8)

Hi millergti20.

If you're new to this forum, how come we have multiple poster names from your ISP? How come since May 2006, those identities have also claimed to be "new" to this forum and had fresh problems with different mixes of fish? And do you live in Scotland, Durham or Kent?
One identity has the name Helen Hudson associated with it. Is that you?
And your current ISP address includes "proxy" within it's identity.

So either you are creating these identities or someone else might be accessing your ISP maybe? You should look into that.

If it's you, then please cease creating new ID's because it is something that we frown upon highly. I bring to your attention this:

http://forums.loaches.com/viewtopic.php?t=2600

Also, the use of capitals for anything other than the DEFINITION of a particular word is not regarded generally as good internet etiquette. It is viewed as shouting.

If you have a genuine problem with your fish, we will endevour to help out. Unfortunately, it is difficult to for people to justify giving freely of their
time and knowledge if we feel the question itself appears to have questionable motives based on available history.

Martin.

I'm wondering if it could be either a library or school computer, or something with more public access? I had looked into it as well...

Actually, that thought also occured to me as I wrote. Doesn't explain the diverse locations from 3 of the names though, nor the fact that "Electrician" is an occupation in one (unless it was a library). Many of the incarnations use capitals though, so there's a commonality. Unless this "public access" computer has a sticky Shift key

I would just like to know what's up :?

I googled proxy server +AOL. As I read it a proxy server provides two functions one it protects the identity of its users and two it improves network conditions. Web pages are cached on the proxy server thereby improving network traffic.
Here is a website: http://webmaster.info.aol.com/proxyinfo.html 195.93.21.7 does not match exactly any of the addresses on the page but it is close. Also the addresses at the url may be North America centric. The rest of the world doesn't really matter anyway. :)

Thanks for the detective work. I notided "cache" in the Provider address. I think we just wait for the response. Either it's intentional or not, or a misunderstanding.

Hi to all, i will start by saying sorry for the use of capitails, I really didnt know that it was offenceive or meant i was shouting. I am a bit confused/concerned as to what has been said regarding other user names, this is genuinly the first time i have used this forum or any other forum for that matter. It is also my personal computor of 2 years and noone else uses it.
My name is Steve, 22, i live in Kent (Gravesend) and i am an electrician working for EDF Energy.
I found this site on an Aol search engine when i was looking for infomation regarding Clown Loaches.
The problem i had regarding my Clown was genuine but unfortualy when i returned from work on sunday the poor little fella had given up :( and also my Pleco had died too but he had no known proplems. :?
I had my water tested straight away monday morning before work and the tests result were as follows
ph=7.5, gh=15 drops kh=8 drops, Ammonium Ammonia=0.0mg/l, Nitrite NO2=0.3mg/l, nitrate NO3=20.0mg/l, iron=0.25mg/l
The over all result was 90%
I was advised that after the white spot treatment the nitrites rised which was the main cause of the problem in my tank. I done a 50% water change and gravel vac 3 days before water test and that is why the test come out as good as it did.
I am now useing Sera Nitrivec on a daily basis to reduce nitrates and also Nutrafin Cycle biological aquarium supplement.
The only change to the tank over the last month was returning the live plants to the water.
Thankfully now the tank/fish have retured to normal all of them are lively again and the 2 clowns i have left seem to have befriended my catfish.
I am having another test done on monday which hopefully will have improved.
Although!!!!!!! the white spots have returned!!!!!!! 1 of the Clowns fins has spots again and they occasionally fick against rocks.
I have been advised to use Waterlife Protozin treatment this time instead of anti white spot plus, but dont want to get it wrong again. Can any one advise on the best thing to do at this stage ie; start treatment now or wait for water test results on monday???
I have printed out a post (Dealing With Ich by Mark in Vancouver) which seems very useful.
Im sorry if this was a bit longwinded but this is the first time in 8 months of running the tank that i have had any problems and i can say 100% i am who i say i am, a genuine tropical fish keeper with a genuine problem
Thanks to all the people who have read my post and even more to the people who replied hopefully you can continue to help me in the future and with what to do with this ich problem
Thanks again Steve

Thanks for the reply Steve. The whole thing seemed weird and it causes us Moderators minor heart flutters when we see such stuff and it's coming from a new poster. I hope you'll understand that.

Personally, if I were you I would be concerned about the info that we're seeing regarding these multiple identities coming via your ISP. If you like, I can Private Mail you with the user names and you can contact your Service Provider. If there is someone else somehow accessing here through their system then they owe it to you to eradicate the problem.

Oh, and sorry to hear about the fish problems.

Martin.

Hello Martin
I fully understand your concern, it would be great if you could mail me the names so i can look into it, it does seem strange to me that this has happened and dont quite know how to deal with it yet, but i will contact AOL.
Hope your heart rates have retured to there normal beats :)
thanks steve

On another forum I use where I used to Moderate we had issues with AOL, they cache pages rather than the user accessing the site each time, blocking the users IP usually took out a few counties of users as it was the AOL cache server for the area rather than an individual

Sounds like a rather stupid system adam as it can allow true trolls to play around with some inpunity. The fact is that none of these identities were maliscious in any way, but they all represented people that came in asked a few Q's and never returned. It just didn't "feel" right and i'm sure that's why Graeme brought it to our attentions.
So let's hope that Steve sticks around and we can get his fishkeeping back on track :)

Martin.
