Anybody else live in a bad loach area?

Seems like I never see any other loaches other than the most commons. I've seen Kuli loaches twice, Skunk Botias occasionally, Blue Botias about twice, horse head loaches 3 or 4 times and thats about it. A Botia Robusta'ish species I've seen twice. Once years ago I saw one specimen and even posted about it on the old school forum you guys had here and now just the other day I saw another specimen, that they called some crazy name and wanted $10 for.
I see weather loaches and of course clown loaches regularly though. I always wish I could get some of these other great species I hear you guys talking about.

Hi Charlie. Where is your location? If fellow members see some nice loaches in certain area's, they often Shout or Pinpoint them for others.
Or perhaps you could search for live stock shippings on the net.

I do love Newcastle beer though!!!
But anyways on the topic of loaches, I went into the best LFS around here an hour ago and they had one 4-4.5 inch YoYo, so I bought him to go with m two 2in. yo yo's. Hope he gets along ok witht them.
They also had four or five 5-7inch Clown loaches for $60 each, and about eight, 2-3 inch clowns for $15 each. They still had that one Botia Robusta looking loach, for $10.

This is a good point. Many questions about water quality, fish availibility etc. depend on location, and if others don't know where you are they can't be as helpful as they otherwise might be.
OK, we now know Hurricane Charlie is a tarheel, but I still can't help you

We get a few small clowns in the springtime at 15-30 bucks US a pop.. as often as not loaded with Ich. We catch local gobies to fill the void. Look like hill-streams.
I'm an Oilers fan. I remain annoyed at that final game performance... on the ropes and let it go. Them punks cost me a case of beer and a good deal of heartbreak. I've never warmed to the Canucks since Tiger. No home-town feel... just rockstars.

Though it may take time, sometimes it helps to chat up the owners/workers at a local shop or two. Once they know they have an interested buyer, they will sometimes order in fish that aren't on the usual list. They all use suppliers that provide them with import lists. If something interesting to you is on their list, they may be willing to order some.
Just a thought.

Yeah I live in a really bad loach area (Philadelphia and Langhorne). I don't ever even see Kuhli loaches, never weather loaches, just one skunk (which I bought), some clowns, and only on Botia Angelicus (the Myanmar loach?) I'm extremely disappointed that I can't even get a yoyo, much less any other species
BTW, my two big clowns (9" and 7") are busy locking lips at the moment.

ya I also live in a bad loach area.
the three shops in my hood all order from only one supplier with very limited stock.
Skunks, zebras and dojo's are about it. Well I see that they can also order an "algae eating loach" but who needs an algae eater

Everytime I go to another city I search for loaches. In Toronto I picked up two horseface loaches (PJ's in the Yorkdale mall) at least 4 inches long last weekend and got some kubotia's and histies too (Harold's)!
I have been dieing to get some Kubs for well over a year.
