That depends where you are, I've often seen them at easily six inches. Super expensive though. North America and the UK might have different standards for sizes for sale.

The Trade of Clown Loaches
Clown loaches are harvested from the wild for food and aquarium trade. Approximately 20 million fish are exported annually. Due to their popularity, many small (preferably 2 - 8cm) loaches are captured every year and dispersed world wide. Interestingly, Indonesia has posed a ban on the export of fish larger than 10cm. This policy is hoped to protect breeding adults and make captive breeding by external groups more difficult. Larger specimens are considered to be unsuitable for aquarium life (due to their carnivorous nature and adaptability difficulties) hence large breeding populations are generally left intact. Young fish are only caught during the high water seasons whilst they are abundant and highly concentrated in one area. This makes trapping easier and the economics of such programs are therefore viable during this time. Juveniles adapt easily to prepared foods and captivity.

You may have a hard time locating clowns that large. If you do, they will be fish that their owners have kept for YEARS and they likely will want an appropriate home for them. The size of your tank will be a big factor. Also whether or not you do good maintenance, what else you plan to keep them with, what your water parameters are, etc. etc.
Why are you looking for super-sized clowns?
And welcome to the forum.

Not for sales. Only for export from Indonesia.
Some extra large clowns offered from Thailand recently likely have been taken from Indonesia at a smaller size and locally grown in a farm environment.---fully legal.

planning to upgrade to 8' x 4' tank beginning next year if it falls through.
so does this mean we can't obtain any in the US as imports bigger than a particular size. i just got some freshly imported at 8inches. a buddy actually got one close to 10" in the same batch.

thanks for the welcome. i do water changes 2-3 times a week depending on spare time i have but for sure 2x a week. 40% each time. it will be housed with 6 ST ranging 10-12" in size, 1 tigrinus that is 12" and of course my 5 8" CLs i have now. mainly looking for bigger cause my dats will try to eat anything it can fit into their mouths.
my water parameters are running about 6.8PH, temp at constant 82degrees. of course no ammonia/nitrite. filtration is ran by a wet/dry with couple aquaclear for mechanical purposes to keep the clean of poop.
well, if anyone knows of anywhere or anyone unloading some bigger loaches, hope they can point me to the right direction. would love to get one like the ones i've seen pictures in this forum.

Not to sound ignorant or anything (even though I am

) what are 'ST'?
And 'dats'?
Sounds like a gigantic tank in the works.

So checking out the dats and tigrinus and adding clowns, I guess you are going for a striped theme, then, eh?
