two of my strangely patterned Histrionicas have green eyes Cool stuff.

Lovely Fish, is it just me or do a couple of them Histrionicas have very Clown like faces.

Hello Angelfish , very strange , they seem a little deep for Histrionica's my initial thoughts are could they be Czech crosses !

I was talking with angelfish83 on the phone last night and said exactly the same thing. These look, apart from the colour, somewhat like the fish I saw at Swallow Aquatics while I was over in England. I saw those and went

Well I didn't want to say anything in a previous thread angelfish83 started about these as I thought he might take issue with me for mentioning it. But as a tradesperson, I have to say that I wouldn't import any type of loaches from the Czech Republic, knowing what they have been crossbreeding, particularly Synodontis and other catfish which they tend to list under the same sections on their stocklists as their Loaches. Makes you wonder what they are doing with those.

I have to wonder at the base colour of these particular fish because they are so atypical of regular histrionica that you have to be suspicious. What's going to be really interesting is to see them grow.

After having them for awhile I have absolutely no doubt that they are not pure B. histrionica, I'm sorry to say... I agree with you guys... Its unfortunate. We'll have to see how they turn out...

Nice fish though, really. Well mannered and very interesting.


With the green eyes and the pattern and the shape though...
You can't really figure how that'd happen just by CB'ing the species...

The rostrata are pure though right?
Unless god has been messing with them? I'm pretty sure they're WC

I took a video today a couple of the medium size ones dropped the black stripes and started wrestling quite violently with eachother... pecking order stuff I suppose...

Why unfortunate? You have very interesting fish, and everyone will be waiting for your photos. I would not mind having some like this myself.

And if you the first to describe them, they may end up being called B.Angelfishi yet....

Now, if you photoshopped the fish, then it is indeed unfortunate...you'll have to change 25% to 99%....

And is it just me or are they a little bit too 'tall' for burmese loaches? They look a little tall to me.

Also, on your standard burmese, there is a black strap at the base of the dorsal fin, and half a black strap near the top, but mine have none there. Also their tail spots are a little odd...

It was the height of the body and facial features that made me think "Clown" straight away, I would agree with Mike that you are the only one on here with these fish so on that point your lucky. It may turn out that these could be some sort of hybrid but I suppose there is a small chance you could have a previously undescribed species, unlikely but possible .

I certainly will be looking forward to more pictures of these as they grow and develop

That aspect of uniqueness is interesting. Like you said though if it is some kind of hybrid or something size may eventually be an issue which would be unfortunate. Until then neat stuff. I wonder if it'd be possible to figure out more about them.
