A few pics with the new camera

Post by Emma Turner » Thu Nov 09, 2006 5:15 pm

My new (well, second hand but in A1 condition) Nikon Coolpix 8700 turned up yesterday and I've been playing around with the settings and snapping a few pics of the Clowns. I noticed something interesting on Marge (see below):

Image
If you look at the top of her ventral (pelvic) fin, you can see a kind of 'skin flap'.

Here it is in close-up:
Image

She has this on each side, and on closer inspection a few of my larger clowns have these. Haven't been able to check them all out just yet though as a lot of them are lounging about round the back of the tank   . Anyone else notice this on any of their big clowns? :?:

Here's a couple more pics:

Marge and Stripes in one of their friendlier moments....
Image

And finally, Marge proving she's still as flexible as some of the younger whippersnappers!....
Image

I'll probably be boring you all with lots more experimental pics over the coming weeks, so be prepared!

Gorgeous, Emma :):)

Yep, Albert has those, too, as do the other "larger" clownies in my tank. Not sure what they are???

Maybe Marge is growing legs?
I really doubt you will be boring us with pics if they are anywhere near as stunning as these.

Very nice pictures Emma. I still cant get over how big Marge is. It really shows you how big a clown loach can get.

Great pics Emma, I'll never get bored of looking at the pics. Does anyone reckon its how you sex the clowns?

PS, what kind of settings do you use to take the pics as i just keep getting flashs backs from the glass?

The appendages you mentioned on Marge's ventral fins are also visible on the pickled specimens in the other thread we've been chatting in on a pickled rostrata. Thought you would think this was interesting

Nice Pic, Nice Camera Emma. I use a Nikon coolpix as well for my photos. the only difference is mine is the older Coolpix E995
120 gallon planted aquaponic tank with 10 clown loachs, first one since 1994, 1 modesta and 3 striadas.

Your pics are great! I am so jealous....several times we have purchased small clowns hoping to get some tankbusters for ourselves in the future, but clown loaches are not for me apparently because I always lose them. I am so in love with Marge! She is gorgeous! Clowns were the first of the "biggies" I had wanted....and it is such a disappointment for me not to be able to keep my babies.
