I assume these are Chinese and not Japanese.
I never could get a good reason from the farm that produces these but they don't want to sell small ones, which is a shame. The color is much more intense when they are about 2"

Very nice. I bet that a lot of dojos in one tank like that looks really cool

Thanks all.
Ken,
These Golds came via my Hong kong supplier, where we normally get our fancy goldfish from, and were the smallest size they had on offer. Some have yellowy patches along the dorsal surface and a few have little browny coloured patches, but I did not manage to get a pic of these (yet) as they wouldn't come towards the front of the tank.

Really lovely fish.

This is the original breeder of the Chinese version. When I left Dolphin, most of what was being produced was being sold directly to Tunghoi's customers. I'm guessing that their customer's market is saturated or maybe someone else is producing them now.
Keep a close eye out for albinos!

Yep, that is our supplier.

I'll inspect the tanks more closely for any albinos before they go on sale.

Very pretty fish Emma. I am currious as to the row of small dots along the gill cover and jaw line??? Receptors?

Thank you.
Due to the uniform nature of those small dots, I'd say they were probably sensory pores.
