Clever Clogs Competition

Remember that song "A Horse With No Name"?
Well this is "The Competition With No Prize"
All you win is the eternal worship of your fellow posters for being a smarty-pants or just being a lucky guesser.
Look at this rather cool idea below and tell me what year this was published in the British magazine "The Aquarist".
The competition runs until someone gets it or we all grow disinterested
Rules: 1) A maximum of 1 guess per day per person.

My Guestimate is that this was published between 1947 and 1955 but if I have to pick a year I'll say 1949

Martin, when are you going to tell us who is right and who is wrong? i am wondering is my guess too recent, and should i go the other way and guess 1796 tommorow?

I said it runs till someone gets it right. If I start saying "you're getting warm" that'll make it too easy.......but no 1796 is a little out there

there is absolutely no way that type-face is thirties.
fifties at the earliest, and I think Helen's right about the style of writing; it is pretty modern.
