Cleaned up the tank a bit, but it's still very green. Here's the little rescued guys.

Yes, they do need fattening up. I foresee a course of levamisole in their future...

They are not quite 2" total length yet, and very active. I think small feedings several times a day are in order. If that doesn't work, then they get the treatment.

And I thought you were supposed to be downsizing! You'll be getting a bigger tank after all then!

Awwwww... I love to save fish from wal mart
I hate seeing them get columbian sharks in I especially hate seeing iridescent sharks being sold. There's STILL that one in the local pet store- the fish was given to them because the owner couldn't keep up with its growth. They have to try to move it to a bigger tank now... it just swims in place at the bottom of its undersized tank. It's a sin. I always go in there and see the bump on its nose, and how miserable it must be, and I want to just take it home and give it a good place to live- but I can't. Truthfully, nobody really can, without a HELL of a lot of money. It's sad they get sold at pet stores at all. And it's nice to see you picking up the poor clownies, very cool how they have that extra stripe!

I saw some today just like those in my local Big Als. They also had ones with big spots on their sides. Actually, there were very few "normal" Clowns in the tank.

Only problem was probably 60% looked like they had CWS.

In anothet tank were some more conventional, larger Clowns and around 25% looked like they had it

Having no clown loach experience and absolutely no credible standpoint either experience or knowledge based to ask this question- I wonder- is it possible that the three band and four band clown loaches are some sort of seperate subspecies? Again- I have no credible standpoint to comment here- I do notice a different schnoz shape to the 4 band ones though. It seems their 'nose' is more angular and less elongated? Sort of curves down faster... to my eye...

Along the lines of the red point convict cichlid sort of thing?

I managed to get to the cash when there was zero lineup during the frenzy today. I was quite pleased with myself . Did you notice they're doing the 10G with a hood deal this year with All-Glass-Aquarium brand tanks instead of perfecto??? That's insane! I love when people walk into the fish room and go "Ever since I added my new fish I got here all my fish are scratching"

and start asking if maybe its stress. Don't people connect the dots?

I'd love to have someone tell me ONE story of a fish they ever got from there that didnt cause some sort of problem...

By the way Shari if you dont mind the absurd pricing, even a 100G baggie of seachem purigen (will last you 2 years) will clear that water up.

Very cute! I hate thinking about the fish at Walmart, too, it's not at all fair for them. I feel doubly worse for my own loaches who were spoiled for some time in a 90-100 gallon... but I should be getting a 72 gallon for them very soon.

Anyways, back when I had the big tank, I had a 4 striper clown loach. I might have even posted a picture of it here a couple years back. It had 4 clean, black stripes that went all the way around the body, it was an absolutely beautiful loach. But then it suddenly got ill and died in 2 days before I could even figure out something was wrong He was about 3" inches or so, maybe 4".

I'll tell you though, 4 stripers are hard to find, but when you do, it's great, so congrats on your find.

they are eating everything, especially love the frozen bloodworms. Added the largest clown from the 40g and one of the little guys, too. Now they are 5. the little ones look REALLY tiny against the big guy and he isn't sure how to take them. But they were all swimming around together this morning.

On another note: I have an SAE from the upstairs tank that went in with these guys and I've seen him looking like he's stalking the little ones. I know he's taken out about 10 danios...are they in danger? When they are with the big guy the SAE gives them plenty of room, but when he's doing something else that SAE is right on their tail...worries me. I may have to move him, but don't have a good place for him. He may end up at the lfs tomorrow if I see him stalking again.

Anyhow, I've got a little clown in with my two big oafs, and they tend to just ignore the little, batting him around with their big tails. They see the little one as more of a nuisance, even as that little clown tries to snuggle with the big guys.

I'd keep all predatory fish out of there until they are on the mend, Shari. Even if it's a minor threat, it's not what they need to cope with, particularly if you medicate the tank.
