Art for Art's Sake

I have just added an Art Gallery to the Loaches Online Community site.

It's a bit top-heavy with my stuff at present. I would love to see examples of other people's artistic abilities.
Emma for instance is a great artist. What happened to that Clown drawing Em? And how's about a picture of your Clown Loach beaded top?
Take a nice closeup of the beadwork.

It would be nice to see all sorts of media featuring loaches.

If anyone is in a scribbling mood, get busy and let's see what you can do.
Scan or photograph whatever you do and post it here. If we like it, we'll put it in the gallery for loach posterity 8)

What a great idea! :D I'll try to find what I've done with the scan of my clown drawing - it may still be on the old computer.

If you find it Emma, you can go straight into the gallery file in Edit and upload it straight in.

Very nice indeed!

I wonder: Can anyone (other than Martin ) identify every fish from the "H is for Hillstream" cover? (I'm down two)

 Wait till I get you home

Aaaaaactually.......I had considered the possibility......seeing as next year is kind of the 10th anniversary of Jeff's inception of LOL, that I might be of a mind to produce another short run of a new design.

Strictly full color print.....there's no way I'm hand painting again.

Martin runs, avoiding the stampede...............

Stampede of one. If we can tie it in with the (EVENTUAL) book release, we'll have a hot seller.

So sign me up, boyo!

maaarrtiiin,

full colour screen printing is expensive. and it's hard with more than a few, simple, colours.

a cheaper, though less durable, option is high-quality transfers; you can get them done professionally or do them yourself.

Many years ago, I did some hot-rod shirt designs for a friend. They were 3 colour screen prints using the base white as another colour. I did each colour in black ink on a transparent sheet overlay to get the colour seperations correct.

I never did full colour renditions, the total effect picture was all in my head. All 4 designs came out looking great and he sold quite a few.

I know then (1980's) that each screen was expensive, so on a limited run the cost per unit increases to a greater extent.
I'm lucky that generally here getting T-shirts printed appears to be far better priced than certainly was available in the UK.
There's a bunch of T-shirt printers and designers in Toronto so I bet I could find a high-quality printer for a reasonable price. I'm sure the technology has leapt forward by leaps and bounds in 20 years.

Back then, we were able to get some Hot-rod T-shirts from an artist in the States that were high-quality transfers that featured subtle shading and very high detail. I must do some investigations while I have the free time at present.
