Im moving my clowns to a new set up (been running for 2 months now). i intend to move them in about a month or so to make sure the tank is all running ok etc. In the current tabk they have a fav hidy hole, its a log with 2 openings. Just wanted to know if you think i should move it with them to give familiarity for them and somewhere they knows safe? In the new tank they have lots more caves etc and a great set up but think they may feel a bit scared to start with as its a lot bigger also.
Thanks

It can't hurt to move the log with them, but no doubt they will do lots of exploring and find new places to lay low. I think it's more important to maintain the general layout of the tank (except when you're moving them to a new tank) so they can develop a mental map of where the safest places are. I don't think they're bright enough to grow fond of a specific bit of tank decor, though.

Thanks for that. Think i may move it, may just see how they are then move it if they seem unsettled. This tanks a lot bigger also. This log is definatly the fav hidy hole in the smaller tank!

another good idea would be to make the new tank have the same set-up of rocks, plants, etc.. just to make the move less stressful...

just an idea.
