Clown Loach
Clown Loach

Clown Loach, Botia macracantha, is less sensitive to light as many other members of its genus and, with its orange and black striped body coloration and red-accented fins, the Clown Loach is a beautiful addition to the freshwater community aquarium. One of the most beautiful scavengers available, this Sumatran native grows to a typical size in the home aquarium of approximately 5 inches. Growing to nearly a foot in the wild, the Clown Loach is an active aquarium member who likes well-aerated water and temperatures at 76 degrees or below. Live Brine and frozen preparations will help the overall health and coloration of this aquarium classic.

Approximate arrival size for Clown Loach: Small: 1.5-2"; Medium: 2.25-3.25"; Large: 3.5-4.25"

Sadly there are all too many places that give out such misleading information.

emma,
instead of sending them the species profile, just send them a pic of marge next to another fish...just to show the sheer hugeness!

:D If they read through the profile, they'll be able to see that overhead pic of Marge & Stripes alongside a standard 30cm (12") ruler.

Aaaaaand in their detailed description they have the Family as Osphronemidae, not Cobitidae.

That's really too bad. I think it's even worse because I've twice ordered fish from petsolutions.com with great results. This leads me to believe that they are not ignorant of the facts but intentionally lying to consumers to sell fish

Another one gets added to the list--lol.

they have 38 pages of fish--it will take a bit of time to add them to the spreadsheet. Might be a bit of fun once we start talking to them. Hopefully as PETsMART begins to get finalized it will help us deal more quickly with others.
