Hi David,

We should be similar on dry goods prices, but livestock prices (and choices!) will vary. This is because the group is lucky enough to be able to import from a wide choice of many quality fish suppliers from around the world. What I may buy from one, another store may buy in from somewhere else.

As all stores are individually run, you'll need to contact your local branch to confirm any prices.

What species of Nemacheilus were you hoping to keep? Some are relatively easy-going, while others are very aggressive and territorial.

Thought so. It's a great little store but i wish they kept more loaches, i think they have dojos, hillstreams, khulis, dwarf chain loaches and one more species i can't remember.

No problem all the staff are very friendly. :)

This is were i spend hours chosing.
I quite like nemacheilus masyai but i'm worried about aggresion.
What would you reccomend, stock will be something like this...
weather loaches(2-3)
peppered corys(5)
hoplo catfish(i would let go of this one if i need the room for Nemacheilus)
lake tebera rainbow fish
zebra/ leopard danios
glowlight danios
danio roseus
love me danios and loaches.
The last 4 mentioned, have no idea what number they will be yet, might let go of the roseus, fell in love with the glowlight last visit and already have the zebras.

There will be alot of plants, slate, river pebbles and wood. Main plants will be marimo moss, java moss, java fern and some other hardy species. No co2, but there might be some dry ferts.
Not sure you needed to know all that but i though i'd mention it.

thanks very much

David

They may well have trouble getting hold of N. masyai, as I very thoroughly scan through all fish lists available to the group every week and am yet to see them listed. :?

I imagine that the sometimes sudden erratic boisterous bouts of behaviour from the weather loaches may cause a few problems for the gentle little corys, but I've never actually kept weather loaches in the home aquarium, so you'd probably be best waiting for someone else (Sophie?) to comment further.

erm.
I don't keep the cories in with the weather loaches; I've got aeneus in a tropical tank (are they in the wrong place?! help!).
my guess is, that as the weather loaches moments of insanity tend to involved them swimming up and about in the water column, they wouldn't bother the cories. They do harass the goldfish at feeding time, but they're interested largely in the bigger fish. They don't take a lot of notice of the small goldfish, and none of the wcm. the problem I can foresee is when they are foraging about on the floor once any food has sunk to the bottom; I think the cories would need to be able to stand up to being bumped out of the way, and I'm not sure how happy they'd be about that... the weathers wouldn't, I think, deliberately hassle them, but they snuffle about after food very actively, and they're big. I'm pretty sure they're effectively blind, as well, with a very good sense of smell to make up for it.
so yes, feeding time would be the problem.
sophie.

Too bad.
Are there any nemacheilus listed that would suit my tank?

Aeneus in a tropical tank is the "bronzes" thing. Only peppered suit sub tropical. imo

I feed my loach one side and he always gos to that side. That should continue in the new tank and hopefully the other one will follow and he'll get used to it. When the both or more are used to it i will get the corys, get a tank divider and put the corys on the left of the tank. This way they will know to go there so i will put sinking pellets to the left and right with th corys on the left and dojos on the right. And hopefully everything will go smoothly. If things do go nasty i will put the corys in my 30" with khulis, rams and danios. :D

Thanks for all the help i'm getting so far!!!

Right i think i have my stocking sorted out. Hopefully this will help you out.

10 lake tebera rainbowfish
6 zebra danios
2 weather loaches
5 peppered corys

Then i have 10" left for either one or 2 Nemacheilus or another dojo.
