Skunks of a different colour.

Just seen dyed Skunk loaches in a Chinese-owned shop not too far from me  They had dyed Glassfish and "Long-finned German Blue Ramerizi". Basically, rams that looked like they were doing an impression of a bug hitting your windshield.....beyond "balloon" Mollies in shape in other words.

I also saw, in another Chinese shop two pairs of BIG loaches. Two Yoyos with great reticulated patterns and two rostrata. The female was nearly 6" long! No price on the tank....bet someone traded them in.
They also had the smallest baby Yoyos I've ever seen....like 1/2" long!

Martin.

I remember when we ordered fish for our store and got a batch of yoyos... they were also extremely tiny, probably the same 1/2 inch you mention. Sadly, I tried to raise one, and it disappeared... tank was too big, as were the fish.

Sad day when skunks are suffering dyes, too :(

What the HELL???
Fish in instruments?! If they put a couple puppies in a grand piano whining, every kid, mom and dad would be going insane over it.
The only reason why people do this to fish is because they don't bother to take the time to relate to them.
The manager at my local pet store said to me the other day that People don't care about fish, because a lot of them come cheaper than a dog or a ferret. "They always say to me "Oh it's just 1.49, it won't hurt to try. 1.49 is nothing to me." Well I tell them it's definitely something to the fish. 1.49 is a life. And unless you're willing to treat it that way, I'm not sure you need to have one." He doesn't sell to people who have that perspective. He's also been trying to get a petition or movement underway to prevent wal mart from selling fish period.
I wish every fish keeper had that mentality. People can be such brutes.
I look at the lovely koi fish stuffed in a glorified baby tub in a restaurant and it makes me want to smack someone. How can people run places like an SPCA or PETA, and then pull something idiotic like this at the same time?

I was in a shop the other day and get this. They were offering custom dyed fish...with your choice of words dyed into the fish...

Argh. It made me want to go all PETA on them.

Yes it has always made me mad that when people think of animal cruelty, they think of cats and dogs. Which is perfectly legitimate, but they never ever think of fish, as if fish aren't even animals. But they are. I would sign that petition against Wal-mart selling fidh in a heart beat. I want that stopped as well because cheap, sleazy places like Wal-mart have no right to mistreat or sell fish, ANIMALS that they obviously don't care to take care of. I always shudder thinking how the fish in those places must suffer.

And the scary thing is that the place that is dyeing the fish is not a walmart, its a supposedly reputable aquatic store doing both salt and fresh water. I couldn't believe it.

Speaking of WalMart (and PetCO and Petland)...

NoClownsinaCube has met with some significant success at having PetSmart come on board with the accuracy in information/responsible husbandry message. So much so that we are now expanding our efforts to Walmart, PetCo, and Petland.

If you have one of these stores in your area you CAN help to change things! We have already gotten a good response from Petsmart. We can affect change industry wide, one store at a time if we all work together.

But we do need your legs. 8) Go to your store. Take pictures of their signs. Especially the ones you know are way off! Bring them home and post them in our GALLERY.

It's because hobbyists have banded together, politely, intelligently and firmly that we have made such good progress already. To keep moving forward we need your participation.

Anyone who can, please take some pics of POP signs at your local stores and upload them to the gallery. It's about the fish.
thanks 8)

My wal mart doesn't sell fish, and my pet store is very responsible.
I've heard them telling people that they can't sell them clowns, because the tank isn't a sufficient size for the fish. The manager- his father owns a clown tank, and one of them is roughly 10 inches long, and thick!!
