hey, i lost my other yoyo last night due to unknown complications...so i decided to take some pics of the remaining little guy...

today we took EVERYTHING out of my room...except the dresser, bed, desk and tank...we are prepping to paint...i dunno what im gonna do with my tank though...

before you say it, we cannot remove the desk from the room...so we cant take the tank out...

i recently moved my 29 g tank... i think i go it down to a science...
most of the weight is in the water. I had 3 buckets ready for the tank water... I left 2 inches of water in the tank.. little fishes can stay there. the bigger fish can go in the bucket.

I lifted one end of the tank and put those 'easy glide' plastic things on the corners.. and I did the same for the other end.

you can then push and pull the tank out. Getting started is hard but once the tank and stand gets moving, it's easy.

once out of the room, plug everything in and put the water back into the tank. And do the whole thing all over when the paint and fumes are dried and gone.

This is the least stress related move I can think of.

yes, the desk is bigger than the door, we had to take off the legs then tilt it on its side to get it in, so that'd make the tank fall off!! hahaha

we dont have any of those carpet glide things..i wish we did though, for general furniture moving..

i only have one 2 gallon bucket, so i dunno if it'd be safe to do a 70% waterchange...would it?

i am going to cover the tank in a garbage bag, and seal it all up with electrical tape (no residue) then try to slide the tank into the middle of the room...i hope it'll work..that way the fumes wont get onto the tank, i was told this by the lfs and people on AH..

i only have 2 small gouramis, 1 small yoyo loach and 1 platy in the tank...so low water is no big deal..

new idea:

i'll pick up 4 of those carpet sliders, then put them under the desk feet, then slide it into the middle of the room..

if i do this, i wont even have to drop the water level!!

you have a 55g right?...
i would still take out as much water as you can... it's incredibly heavy just to lift one side to put in the carpet glide... While you're at the hardware store pick up 3 - 4, five gallon buckets...

and I wouldn't seal up the tank with plastic.. the fish will sufficate. maybe an air line could work... oh well, sounds tough... Use acrylic paint.. i think they're the least toxic out of the bunch.

its a 10g. i can lift each side by myself, then my mom could position the carpet sliders under each foot...

so thats like 110 lbs. plus the desk (maybe 40 lbs?)

we already bought the paint, its acrylic-latex...

the lfs said to seal up the tank so that the fumes wont aerate into the water through the filter output (it would)
of course i could leave a little vent hole with a tube through it (air tube) that'd be easy, and wouldnt let too many fumes in..

well, i got some carpet sliders, put them under the desk legs..

the whole thing slid across the carpet with amazing ease..i think i am going to leave them on (adhesive) so that i can do any maintenance on the back of the tank (i could just turn the desk to the side)

thanks to all that helped, we are going to paint on tuesday, prepping tomorrow..so i will seal it up with the garbage bag on tuesday morning..
