More Sid's - Ooh Yeah

I received a phone call from the shop I bought my previous batch of 10
Y. Sidthimunki from this morning to ask if I would be interested in taking some more Sid's off them.
After a little bit of battering (her resistance to the
Force was strong at first) I managed to get her to part with them at £2.45 each

.
When I got there she thought there were only 14 but when she started catching she realised there were 16 so she gave me the extra 2 free

.
I am now the proud owner of a shoal of 36, yes not a typo
36 Y. Sidthimunki
I have decided that they will probably end up in the 80 gallon that the Clowns will move out of when their 7' tank arrives, and I think I am going to try and get the Sid's to spawn now that I have such a large shoal

hi mark
i have a member of our fish club that had accidental spawnings of sids, his group consisted of about 12 fish that he got from a local fish shop in the 80's, the price then was over 7 quid each.
he did'nt even know they had spawned until two fishy friends said to him, where did you buy the small sid's from, on stripping the tank they found 20 odd fry.
if i remember the tank was half full of java moss & fern, a large piece of bogwood and some pipes one of which he siliconed it to a pyramid shape weighed down with a piece of slate, thats where most of the fry were hiding, the two people who found them were pete liptrop from bolton museum and brian walsh an A class judge and lecturer.
i'll find out what size tank & filtration he used and post it later.

Any info you can pass on would be great Mick
They currently have a couple of large clumps of Java moss as well as a fair amount of Java fern and Indian fern, there are 2 medium sized pieces of bogwood in there as well as some small terracotta pots (the ones that come with potted aquarium plants) and a couple of my plant pot towers as well as other caves and a few Anubias.

That's phenomenal! You're very lucky! Wish I lived close to a store like that- I'd love to create a sid tank, personally.

Thanks for the comments guys
I am really pleased with the tank, I have also just worked out how much I have spent on my shoal of Sid's, I got the whole shoal of 36 for around £90 if I had paid the full normal price that they go for locally it would have been nearer £250

Well, I don't know the exchange rate, but that's still a HECK of a deal
And the reason I still only have 10.....I'm waiting for the guy I got these from to get more, and then so will I

I paid $6 each for these and normally they are $19 each
