Hi All

I purchased these yesterday and would like to confirm the identification - The pet store said it was probably a tiger loach of sorts, but I disagree, I think it's a Sinibotia pulchra or 12-Banded chinese loach.

Thanks

Craig

You've seen the species index entry?

Yes, Sinibotia pulchra.
They look like nice ones. All too often these fish come very underweight.

I've always been hoping that I could get more loaches like that. I have a Sinibotia Longiventralis which looks very similar to those beautiful specimens.

At least I think the Longiventralis is what I have. Mine was passed off as a gold banded india loach, and it's tail is not clear, but dark brown.

Maybe I'm wrong all along! Maybe it's a Sinibotia Superciliaris or a Sinibotia Pulchra... oh no, now I have no clue :( It's a Sinibotia of some sort. I'd get a picture, but the camera just can't focus.

Thank you very much for your help! Sorry for my late reply, but my internet has been down for 2 days!

I currently have them in my loach tank with 4 clowns, 3 botia almorhae and 2 pangio kuhlii.
I see their preferred environment needs a good current - that's why the hang out near the filter vent.

Yes, it seems South Africa is getting all the loaches - however you really have to search around for them - these were the only two at the pet store.

Thanks

Craig
