Centimeter Clowns

Saw the smallest clowns so far, two shops had tanks of clowns less than one centimeter long, inclusive of tails. It is difficult to make them out as loaches at all at that size.
I am not sure if they are being imported from Indonesia at that size or if they have been bred locally.
I am also not sure how fast they grow at that size. Do they have a mind blowing acceleration, like yoyos, and then stop at two inches?
They looked a bit fragile. Didn’t get them.

Well all I can say is I hope these stores are employing a decent intensive feeding regime (with a water change routine to match) or else I fear loaches of such a tiny tiny size will likely perish.
Any chance of getting pics of these, YellowFinned?

Emma, I think it is unlikely I can get photos. The whole market is in flux as half of it has been evicted. One of the shops might not even be there, and the other one has a 'no photograph' sign.
I did plan to get some photos of the adults of the juvi Sids I bought, but having looked at them, they are definitely Negs and not Sids.

I spotted some clowns that were about a cm SL at the lfs on Wednesday. I plan on picking up a bunch this weekend. They looked quite healthy although very young, the head and body shape aren't quite the same as the larger juveniles we see for sale. When I get decent photos and my computer fixed (I blew up my harddrive last weekend, I'm at work now) I will post them along with lots of new loaches I've gotten or will get with the clowns.

A fish shop in Colchester, Essex also has tiny clowns at the moment, not as tiny as in those pictures (and I am very bad at judging lengths) but certainly extremely small, approx. 2 cm long. Very sad really as this shop is not very good with keeping the fishies happy and I do fear for these little clowns
but there were far too many for me to 'rescue', even although with the 9 tanks I have I would have had the space, but not the cash....(never mind the knowledge to rear them from that small - but at least they would have had clean tanks in this house....)
